Robinhood Redesign
Project vision
Assumptions
This case study focuses on the Robinhood app redesign adding a new feature to the mobile app that provides financial education through fun interactions for individual investors.
"Robinhood Learn" provides users resources for learning about investing, but is currently only available on desktop.
This creates friction, as many users only use mobile and/or are unaware of the online resources available to them because they are only on desktop.
I have redesigned the mobile app to include this educational content, adapting it to mobile use and preferences so that users can willingly learn about financial education in a fun way.
User Interviews
research method : Online Interviewing 25 - 45 years old women 5 people
The people interviewed fall into two categories: new investors (new to investing, uses Robinhood infrequently) and experienced investors (has experience investing, uses Robinhood frequently)
Insghts User Painpoints
1. It is difficult to find materials on investment, buzzwords, and financial fundamentals written in a way that is easy for anyone to understand.
2. It is tedious to find a list of investment strategies that are already backed by experts.
Our Idea
Robinhood has recently implemented video as a new format for their Snacks content, with an aim to provide exciting and helpful visuals to make financial news less intimidating.
Robinhood has also added a Learn resource, which offers financial information, definitions, and market explainers to educate you on financial terms and concepts. Robinhood says it has published more than 650 articles on Learn and saw more than a 250% increase in average unique daily visitors to their Learn pages since January 2020.
But still, a lot of users don't know the learn page because they tend to see only the mobile app.

What I learned
Many of Robinhood's potential users, individual investors, often look for financial information from social media and YouTube, rather than from financial news sites written by experts.
Therefore, Robinhood decided to take advantage of its strengths in gamification, simple navigation, and easy stock purchases to include fun, animated financial education articles in its mobile app, as well as the ability to share them on social media.
We believe that financial education should be fun and something that can be kept lean for everyone.
Unfortunately, in my country, as in many countries, almost everyone does not receive financial education. So I want to support financial education with a fun and easy-to-navigate app for all.
